The Tomatis checklist:
the four spheres of listening
In order to identify as early as
possible disorders and difficulties related to listening and
to address them as efficiently as possible, it is useful to
have a checklist containing a range of indications which can
reveal problems in the child or the adult.
For ease of use, this list has been divided into four broad
spheres, concerning particular areas in which listening may be
disturbed. Obviously, these areas are by no means
incompatible, as they can easily overlap, and they all
interact closely.
For each of the four headings, identify and tick off the
difficulties and disorders which you recognise in one of your
family members or in yourself.
This list is not exhaustive. If certain problems which concern
you do not feature on the list but you consider them related
to a listening problem, do not hesitate to contact an IARCTC
registered Tomatis centre to avail of further information and
clarification.
