These
are difficulties concerning retardation in the ability to
perform gestures which don't need to be learnt culturally,
through explicit education, unlike those relative to dyspraxia
(as for example eating with cutlery), and which normally fall
into place naturally over time (for example: walking, running,
jumping, following a rhythm by tapping one's feet or the
fingers).
Thus, these
disorders concern the realisation of gestures which involve the
body as a whole.
For example, the children presenting difficulties of this kind
will not be able to coordinate their arms and their legs when
they swim, will run in a disjointed manner, will have difficulty
balancing on one foot or walking down stairs.
Disorders in the acquisition of coordination are regularly
associated, although to varying degrees, with dyslexia
